The hot news topics were on everyone's minds as we heard from an inside source - Mahoning Matters. Founded in October 2019, just 40 days after The Youngstown Vindicator closed, the digital news service, was represented by Editor Mark Sweetwood  and Business Development & Community Partnerships lead Thea Nixon.
Editor Mark Sweetwood from Mahoning Matters spoke of the significance of timing and their impact in the media landscape of the valley. He spoke about truly believing all local media working together. His analogy was that he didn't want Mahoning Matters to be the "fifth lane of 680". Mark spoke passionately about how people in the valley access their news and how "people are better served with more media and media that works better together.

Our President Samantha Turner who spoke on race, participated in a roundtable on Crowdcast that will be better broadcast at a later time hosted by Mahoning Matters. October 9th is the Media company's 1 year anniversary. Thea Nixon, Business Development & Community Partnerships lead for the company spoke about their ability to reach 238,000 readers monthly and over 10,000 people have signed up for the newsletter.
